The intricacies of just which little strip in west Africa is named Benin, and which Togo and the like has eluded me. Until now. I came across a silly, but addictive online game, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.craziness.com\/games\/geography-game-africa\">Africa Geography game<\/a>. Horrified by my first performance, I just had to compulsively play it until I got all the countries first time. And then move on to South America, Europe and the middle-east to do the same. Perhaps I&#8217;m not a better person for it, and I certainly don&#8217;t know anything more useful about Gabon than I did before, but I&#8217;ve successfully scratched another itch (and it was a lot easier than writing a book).<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;re also US, Canadian and Australian state versions, but those didn&#8217;t particular interest me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of those compulsive and not particularly useful things I&#8217;ve wanted to do for a while was brush up on my knowledge of African geography.
