{"id":309,"date":"2005-02-26T23:46:19","date_gmt":"2005-02-26T21:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenman.co.za\/wordpress\/?p=309"},"modified":"2005-02-26T23:46:19","modified_gmt":"2005-02-26T21:46:19","slug":"tectonic-magazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenman.co.za\/blog\/?p=309","title":{"rendered":"Tectonic magazine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tectonic.co.za\">Tectonic<\/a> magazine arrived in the post today. <a href=\"http:\/\/mithrandr.moria.org\/blog\/index.html\">Neil<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/mithrandr.moria.org\/blog\/396.html\">described it as a thing of beauty<\/a>, and I was pleasantly surprised too (perhaps that shows our predisposition for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntulinux.org\">Ubuntu<\/a>, from which the cover art is taken?)<\/p>\n<p>Many of the articles are taken from the website, and so are old news, but there&#8217;s something good about seeing them in print. It was also good to see two presumably paying adverts, one for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.go-opensource.org\">Go Open Source<\/a>, and the other for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.obsidian.co.za\">Obsidian<\/a>. My article seemed to turn out OK, although the editors use of the gendered pronoun &#8216;he&#8217;, as opposed to my gender neutral pronoun &#8216;they&#8217; meant the article misrepresents the person I refer to who didn&#8217;t know that MySQL had transactions \ud83d\ude42 Also, I&#8217;m not the lead developer for IOL, and haven&#8217;t been for quite a while (I know it&#8217;s been a while since I submitted the article but not that long!) But those trivialities aside, it&#8217;s great to see the magazine finally in print &#8211; great job Alastair and Jason. What with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biophile.co.za\">Biophile<\/a> and Tectonic in print, I finally have two local paper magazines covering two of my passions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My copy of Tectonic magazine arrived in the post today.
