The landlord of the building where I work has just fired the security guard (technically he hasn’t renewed his contract). Apparently he has a tendency to hire a guard on contract for 3 months, then terminate the contract on very short notice (in this case Monday is the last day), and avoid paying UIF etc, even though it is clearly a permanent position.<\/p>\n
The slimy landlord cliche can be annoying, especially as I’m a landlord too, but it’s deserved way too often. Luckily this time there’s an attorney willing to get involved, and with a number of us watching the outcome I’m sure he won’t get away with this. Apparently the landlord is fairly notorious in the diamond industry (a dirty industry I refuse to support – hence Anique shouldn’t hold her breath for a diamond ring!), but that’s all heresay.
