{"id":329,"date":"2005-01-22T23:49:21","date_gmt":"2005-01-22T21:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greenman.co.za\/wordpress\/?p=329"},"modified":"2005-01-22T23:49:21","modified_gmt":"2005-01-22T21:49:21","slug":"moving-to-layeredtech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenman.co.za\/blog\/?p=329","title":{"rendered":"Moving to layeredtech"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an update to the post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenman.co.za\/b2evolution\/blogs\/index.php?p=77&amp;more=1&amp;c=1&amp;tb=1&amp;pb=1\">Moving to Circular Systems<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circle.co.za\/\">Circular Systems<\/a> took a bit long to arrange their US server, so Anique cancelled the order, and thanks to the advice from <a href=\"http:\/\/bug.reaper.org\/\">Aubrey<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powertrip.co.za\/\">Jacques<\/a>, we&#8217;re trying <a href=\"http:\/\/www.layeredtech.com\/\">Layered Technologies<\/a>. So far so good, the server has been promptly set up and things seem to be working well. I chose <a href=\"http:\/\/www.debian.org\/releases\/testing\/\">Debian Sarge<\/a> as the OS. They had a slightly unusual selection, consisting of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FreeBSD 5.3<\/li>\n<li>FreeBSD 4.X<\/li>\n<li>FreeBSD 5.X<\/li>\n<li>Debian Sarge<\/li>\n<li>NetBSD 1.6.X<\/li>\n<li>Fedora Core 1 [Unsupported]<\/li>\n<li>Redhat 9 [Unsupported] <\/li>\n<li>Debian Stable<\/li>\n<li>CentOS<\/li>\n<li>OpenBSD 3.5<\/li>\n<li>FreeBSD 5.X X86_64 BIT<\/li>\n<li>NetBSD 2.0<\/li>\n<li>Windows 2003 Web Edition<\/li>\n<li>Redhat Enterprise Server 3 <\/li>\n<li>Windows 2003 Standard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I do prefer Debian&#8217;s apt-get (the brief look I&#8217;ve had at it on an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntulinux.com\/\">Ubuntu<\/a> machine and the Debian server) to the rpms, Mandrake Control Centre etc on my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mandrakelinux.com\/en-us\/\">Mandrake<\/a> laptop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an update to the post Moving to Circular Systems.
