The pet food underworld

For the last few months I’ve been buying a cat food called Petite Anges. It’s made locally, is as good for the cats as the most expensive brands (and better than a lot of others – I checked the ingredients quite carefully), and is a lot cheaper.

Until recently that is. It seems they’ve been pressured out of business, with Nestle threatening them, the food authority making it difficult, the manufacturer being pressurized to stop making, all very underworld and dirty.

I’ve heard quite a few rumours from people who should be in the know – cat food manufacturers such as Eukanuba and their animal experimentation, manufacturers producing cheap and expensive brands, with the cheap stuff consciously making the cats sick, after which a vet will recommend the expensive stuff.

I’m sure some of these rumours are true – perhaps its time for an expose… I’ll see if I can find out more.

UPDATE – Some links to get started:

  1. I use Eukanuba for my baby and couldn’t imagine using anything else. My background is in nursing and rely on good nutrition for mine and my family’s health. Check out http://WWW.iamstruth.com for some more facts on their testing policies. I work for them and know how dedicated they are to the well being of all cats and dogs.
