I still have plans to start a hall of shame (I’ll think of a better name) of dysfunctional websites in South Africa, not to humiliate the perpetrators, but to encourage them to make their sites more usable. Reasons for being dysfunctional include the all-too-common only working in Internet Explorer, broken links and general poor navigation.
So here’s today’s, rather topical, example. The Independent Electoral Commission. Firstly, the layout is distorted in Firefox (everything is there, but you have to scroll down below the menu.) More importantly, the Where to Register link returns a 404 (page not found). Seeing as today is the last day of voter registration, and I was interested in registering in my new area, this is quite annoying.
