Moving to layeredtech

This is an update to the post Moving to Circular Systems. Circular Systems took a bit long to arrange their US server, so Anique cancelled the order, and thanks to the advice from Aubrey and Jacques, we’re trying Layered Technologies. So far so good, the server has been promptly set up and things seem to be working well. I chose Debian Sarge as the OS. They had a slightly unusual selection, consisting of:

  • FreeBSD 5.3
  • FreeBSD 4.X
  • FreeBSD 5.X
  • Debian Sarge
  • NetBSD 1.6.X
  • Fedora Core 1 [Unsupported]
  • Redhat 9 [Unsupported]
  • Debian Stable
  • CentOS
  • OpenBSD 3.5
  • FreeBSD 5.X X86_64 BIT
  • NetBSD 2.0
  • Windows 2003 Web Edition
  • Redhat Enterprise Server 3
  • Windows 2003 Standard

I do prefer Debian’s apt-get (the brief look I’ve had at it on an Ubuntu machine and the Debian server) to the rpms, Mandrake Control Centre etc on my Mandrake laptop.
